As the largest onsite employer of teens in the city of Boston, The Artists for Humanity Epicenter has already exceeded its current space which was constructed in 2004. To help meet the growing demand for services, Artists for Humanity added 52,000 SF to expand existing programs and accommodate new opportunities. This expansion project directly impacts high-school aged teens by doubling employment, offering vocational programs in technology-based arts media and connecting them with partnerships through local universities. The Artists for Humanity Epicenter is also the vibrant center for creativity in the Innovation District, creating a unique community based space.
The Artists for Humanity Epicenter’s new space, designed by Behnisch Architekten, is expected to be the largest energy positive commercial facility on the East Coast. The project includes passive design, radiant heating & cooling, and an innovative 235 kW ‘wrapper’ of mesh-integrated photovoltaics to power the building.
PM&C worked on behalf of the lenders including Bank of America, Mass Development New Markets and Boston Community Capital.
