Location: Charlestown, MA Client: Northern Bank Construction Cost: $22m Completed: 2016
This historic armory building, once used by local military companies as a drilling space, and later as a book depository for the Boston Public Library, is currently undergoing a complete redevelopment turning the vacant building into 40 units of new housing.
The project includes demolition and renovation of the existing structure incorporating both existing and new structural elements. Cleaning and re-pointing, along with re-work of the brick facade to facilitate new windows and doors is included in the scope, as is the installation of new skylights and balconies within the existing roof. There will be all new mechanical systems incorporated including the addition of fire sprinklers throughout the building.
